October 2021 • Review on Tripadvisor

The operation of the Retreat Hotel was successful during the year and it is clear that the hotel’s good reputation has spread far and wide. The Retreat Hotel is known for its unique guest experience, service, setting, design and stunning surroundings.

A decision was made to limit its utilization in the first months after opening, but then to gradually increase it with the aim of ensuring both quality and good visitor experience as before. At the Retreat Hotel, the emphasis is placed on providing a high-quality experience in a unique environment where the service and facilities are of the best possible standard.  The hotel boasts 62 rooms and two restaurants. The Retreat Spa is an integral part of the experience, since hotel guests have full access to the Retreat Spa’s experience areas during their stay.

“A very special treat”

August 2021 • Review on Tripadvisor

Silica Hotel is a unique hotel where guests have access to a special private lagoon in a moss-covered lava field. The hotel was very popular with foreign guests in the years before COVID-19 and was booked out almost all year round. In June, it was decided to restart operations after the closures due to COVID-19, albeit with a limited supply of rooms. The supply was then increased as the year progressed. This was done to ensure a good guest experience and flexibility in operations, since there was a great deal of uncertainty due to ever-changing disease control measures. As of August, the hotel was operating at full capacity.

A number of changes were made to the range of services and products at Silica Hotel in the first half of the year, with a view to further enhancing the guest experience. During the year, so-called Exclusive Weekends were held with Anna Eiríks, which enjoyed some popularity in the domestic market.

Silica Hotel has developed radically since it first opened in 2005. It was originally established as a Clinic Hotel, which offered treatment for psoriasis. The Clinic Hotel became Silica Hotel in 2016 with an emphasis on excellent service and the well-being of guests. Despite this change, Silica Hotel continues to receive guests for treatment since the healing power of the lagoon is utilized in the treatments.
