This year, Blue Lagoon will celebrate its 30th anniversary since its foundation on 1 June 1992.

The company’s plans for 2022 provide for considerable product and service development, marketing efforts and the ongoing development of infrastructure with a view to further enhancing the guest experience.

This year’s particular focus will be on environmental and sustainability issues. A review and harmonization of the company’s policies has already begun and new guiding principles will soon be introduced to cover all operations and development work.

The aim is to move the company’s support divisions to Urriðaholt in Garðabær.  This is being done to make better use of the premises in Svartsengi for guest services, but also to reduce the carbon footprint of operations, since 75% of the employees who work in the support divisions live in the capital area. The company’s digital evolution will continue at full speed, which will result in increased efficiency in many areas.

Plans call for the introduction of more new skincare products in the BL+ line this year, and the packaging of the Spa and Derma skincare product lines will be replaced with eco-friendly packaging.

Great emphasis will continue to be placed on supporting the company’s staff, which is one of its greatest resources.  Training and education will be prioritized.

Blue Lagoon will continue to contribute to the development of spas in Þjórsárdalur valley and the Kerlingarfjöll highland resort, for example.
